Whitewater Rafting Trip

Interested in challenging yourself with fellow members of the Lees-McRae community on an outdoor adventure? Campus Recreation and Outdoor Programs is hosting a day of whitewater rafting for students on the Watauga River with a guided rafting tour through Edge of the World.

When and Where:
Participants will meet in the Avery Parking Lot at 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 2. We will walk as a group to Edge of the World (It's just about a block away from campus.) 

Cost:
$35 (For all Lees-McRae students, faculty, and staff)

Food:
Lunch will be provided by Edge of the World. Please indicate if you would like a vegetarian lunch option on the registration form. Any additional food needs will need to be brought by participants.  

Participants should wear/bring:
Come dressed in what you will wear on the river! Any type of cotton blue jeans, sweat pants, or long pants are not recommended. Any synthetic fabric type clothing such as nylon, polyester, or polypropylene, is recommended.

Recommended clothing:

  • Shorts or bathing suit
  • T-shirt
  • Tennis shoes/Tevas/River Shoes–shoes must have a heel strap (NO FLIPFLOPS OR SANDALS) 
  • If you wear glasses, bring something to secure them such as “Croakies”, string, or rubber bands.
  • Dry change of clothes
  • Towel
  • Small bag to take with you to the river to change into dry clothes after we get off the water. 
     

Rafting Equipment: 
All equipment needed for rafting will be provided by Edge of the World. You're just responsible for yourself and your clothing!

Cancellation Policy:
If the trip is cancelled by Lees-McRae Outdoor Program staff due to insufficient registration, unsafe conditions, or weather-related circumstances patrons will receive a refund or have the option to obtain credit towards a future outing. 

If cancellation is made on the part of the patron, more than 7 days before the trip date, a refund will be given. 

Regardless of when you register, no refunds will be given, unless there are special circumstances, for cancellations made outside of the refund timelines stated. Cancellations must be made in writing via email Monday–Friday between the hours of 8 a.m.–5 p.m. to Lizzy Gardner at [email protected].
