Spring Move-out

By Lees-McRae College (other events)

52 Dates Through Jun 13, 2020

ABOUT ABOUT

The college is working with local health authorities to develop plans concerning move-out from campus residences. Students may return to campus to move out of their residences on June 6, 7, and 13, or during newly added dates May 1–10. In order to minimize physical contact, timeslots have been staggered and a limited number of individuals will be allowed on a residential floor at one time. To reserve a move-out time slot, select a date and time and then choose your residence and floor.

Students should register for a timeslot using this form, even if the previous form was used to request a June move-out date.

With questions, please contact Student Affairs at [email protected].

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I already selected a time in June to move out but would rather move out in May?
Even if you filled out a form for June move, please fill out this new May move-out form to indicate if you would like to keep your original date or change to an earlier one.

What if I show up before my selected time?
You will not be permitted to enter your residence hall until your registered time.

What if I can’t come in May or June?
If you are unable to come on the available dates, we can box your items and store them for the summer. You can then collect your belongings on move-in day in August.

I'm from out of state and need to stay overnight. Where do I stay?
Hotels are prohibited from allowing none essential workers from booking reservations in Avery County. If you need to stay overnight, consider June move out dates. While we are trying to accommodate earlier move-out dates, doing so should be done in compliance with local health and safety orders.

What if I have damages in my room when I move out?
Minor damages and housekeeping are waived in order to expedite move-out. Major damages will be assessed by college staff during the summer months.

How do I check in for my move-out timeslot?
There is no check in. Students should go directly to their rooms to begin retrieving their belongings. Students should print the registration ticket for their timeslot and leave it visibly in each car they bring to campus.

How do I check out for my move-out timeslot?
An express checkout form will be on your room door. Fill out the form and place it and your key in the drop box located at the front entrance to your residence hall.

Is my family allowed to come into the building with me to help me move out?
The number of people allowed in a building is limited—each student may be accompanied by two other people in the residence.

What safety requirements do I need to follow?
Students and other visitors to campus should follow the following safety requirements set forth by Avery County and the state of North Carolina:

  • Maintain physical distance (at least 6 feet) from others.
  • Wear gloves and a face mask to protect yourself and others.
  • Wash hands frequently.
  • Do not come if you are unwell or have a cough or fever.

Can I visit other buildings?
No. While college operations are continuing during regular business hours, campus facilities are locked. Students (and other visitors to campus) should only enter their own residence hall.
