ABOUT ABOUT

Fall Homecoming 2022 tailgate registration opens September 1 at 12:01 a.m. Claim your spot for a front-row seat to watch the men's and women's soccer matches on Sunday, October 2 (rescheduled due to Hurricane Ian). Spaces will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note: If using a mobile device (phone, tablet, etc.) to register you will not be able to choose individual tailgate spaces. The spaces will be assigned by "best available" in each section. In order to choose a specific space, please use a laptop or desktop computer.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Who can claim tailgate spaces?
We are excited to celebrate Homecoming with the entire Bobcat Family! Spaces can be claimed by alumni, families, students, faculty, staff, student organizations, and athletic teams who want to come together to cheer on our lacrosse teams!

  2. Are all the tailgate spaces the same?

Bobcat fans can register for a space in one of three sections surrounding Tate Field. Section A spaces on Bobcat Bank are 14 feet wide and permit one vehicle and one tent. All other non-vehicle spaces in Sections B and C are 12 feet wide and permit one tent only.

We limit each person, group, or organization to one space. We ask that you please respect your space and those in the spaces around you.

Students can register for a space in a specially designated section at the heart of Bobcat Bank. Registration for current students will open on Wednesday, September 15 at 8:30 a.m. To reserve a space, visit Haley Sumner, assistant director of campus life, in the Student Affairs office.

  4. How much do tailgate spaces cost?
Tent spaces within Sections B and C are only $25 while premium tent/vehicle spaces atop Bobcat Bank are $50. Tent spaces in the student section are free.

  5. When can I arrive to my tailgate space?
The spaces will open at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct 2. Tailgate attendees are not permitted in spaces prior to event opening and must be in place by 1 p.m. Please bring your printed ticket to show event staff onsite.

  6. Where should I park?

Parking during the event will be available at the Dickerson Athletic Complex and Grandfather Home for Children field off Hickory Nut Gap Road (weather permitting). Parking will also be available in the Cannon Student Center, Hayes Auditorium, May School of Nursing and Health Sciences, and lower Chaffee lots.

A five-minute unloading zone will be available near Bobcat Bank at Tate Field.

  7. What are the rules regarding alcohol consumption?
For Homecoming only, Lees-McRae College allows those of 21 years of age and older to consume alcoholic beverages in moderation while tailgating. Those consuming or in possession of alcohol must be able to present a valid form of I.D. (Unexpired state issued driver’s license, U.S. Military I.D., State of N.C. Pets are permitted at tailgate spaces. However, animals must be kept on a leash and all waste must be disposed of properly. Please use discretion; there will be large crowds and loud noises (bands, fireworks, etc.) throughout the event.

  9. Can I bring my grill?
Propane and charcoal grills are the only permissible sources of heat for cooking. Hot coals must be completely extinguished with water prior to leaving the tailgate space. Open flame fires, including fire pits, are not permitted.

  10. Is electricity available?
Electricity is not provided. If you are in need of power, we recommend that you use your vehicle to power any audio or video equipment. AC converters can be purchased at most electronics stores. Generators are not permitted.

  11. What do I need to do at the end of the tailgate event?
We are lucky to live in these beautiful mountains and we want them to stay pristine! Please take advantage of the recycling options and ensure that all trash is removed before you leave your space.
